Kohala is the oldest of the 5 volcanos that make up the Island of Hawaii. It is estimated to be 1 million years old. Today it is a beautiful back drop to Hanaula Village.
Hawi Town is the turn around for the bicycle portion of the Iron Man Triathlon.
There many activities that are close to home, you can hike in to beautiful Pololu Valley where the ocean waves crash over the black sand beach.

The towns of Hawi and Kapaau have buildings dating as far back as the 1900s that are now used to house charming art galleries, boutiques and restaurants.

The beautiful white sand of Hapuna Beach is only a short drive away.

This area is the Birthplace of King Kamehameha I. The original statue of King Kamehameha I can be found in Kapaau. It was originally forged in Italy in 1810 and was lost at sea near the Falkland Islands. The statue was recovered in 1912 and brought to Kapaau.
